⭐ Gen Z is currently driving ticket sales at the box office
87% of Gen Z and 82% of millennials saw at least one movie theatrically in the past 12 months, vs. 70% of Gen X and 58% of baby boomers. Gen Z and millennials also clocked around 7 visits per year, ahead of Gen X (6.1) and baby boomers (5.7).
AKA: Thank your assistant they might just be propping up your slate or roster.
⭐ WGA’s deal with major studios includes $321 million for healthcare, added meetings about AI, and more
Yes you heard that right…there will be more meetings about AI so I mean we can all stop holding that collective breath?
The deal requires companies to tell the WGA if they use writers’ work to train AI, but does not include compensation, which was a key union demand. 🤢 Health care is a big W.
⭐ Latin music breached $1 billion of recorded revenue sales in the US last year. a marking an 8.8% increase. That figure sat at $150 million only 11 years ago.

Anybody who knows Kevin will say the same thing: he is the best. I worked with him at WME and there is no one more deserving to take on the new role. ⭐ Paramount Skydance launches Paramount Global Publishing, a new literary arm 2 years after selling Simon & Schuster
Books are having a real moment everyone is hunting for durable, interesting, and unique IP in the age of endless content. This unit will not only create content based on their current slate of IP but “generate new IP through the creation of original stories”
Every studio wants to have an option on the next Prophet Hail Mary or Lincoln Lawyer (all adapted from books) even better if its literally in the same building…
⭐ AMC Networks becomes the latest company to make a minor rebrand, and will now be called AMC Global Media.
⭐ It’s becoming increasingly more difficult to reach your own audience, even on “owned” social media platforms (news flash: they are all rented)
So… Apple TV is the latest to launch experiential activations for a slate of their shows, because IRL is 1000x more valuable than anything digital these days. I said what I said.
