👋 So the end of that USA game sucked huh? Actually it was one of the more exciting futbol soccer matches games of the tournament, but what a wild ending. On to the round of 32 vs. Bosnia who has one of the more unhinged presences on IG.

AI music platform Suno launched an artist incubator program for indie acts called Spark.

Suno is still fighting major AI copyright battles, even as it grows to a $5.4B valuation and faces backlash from artists like SZA and Doja Cat who are loudly not here for the robot songs. Me either.

⭐ Shakeup at MS NOW (still won’t get over this glow down rebrand from MSNBC)

They are reworking their weekend lineup, cutting The Weekend: Primetime, moving longtime anchor Alex Witt out after nearly 30 years, and leaning harder into taped shows, podcasts, and outside partnerships.

Translation: cable news is trying to become more like digital media with a podcast tab, because even TV news wants to be a creator economy startup now..

Bill Lawrence (Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Rooster) arrived in LA at 21 knowing no one. He painted houses while script after script got turned down.

He spent 6 months harassing legendary managers George Shapiro and Howard Wes who eventually decided to read one. "I promised I'd never make them read another. They thought it sucked. So I sent another a week later…Read this and I'll never bother you again."

That script landed him his first gig in Hollywood, and a foot in the door.

The bright lights were short lived when he proceeded to get fired from three jobs in a row: Boy Meets World, The Nanny and Friends. Most people would take that as the sign to pack it up, but Bill kept writing.

A few years later, he broke through on Spin City with Michael J. Fox, and since then, he’s gone on one of the great modern TV runs with Scrubs, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Bad Monkey, and more.

🧠 His advice for the next gen:

🧠 You don’t need the perfect job. You just need a foot in the door. And once you’re in, you have to outwork everyone else. It's a business where if you show up and grind, you're immediately ahead.

🧠 Be an easy hang. People who create drama and get in their own way disappear fast.

My own foot in the door took 6 months after applying to job after job, and had a string of roles hit dead ends with the pandemic completely uprooting my dream gig. But the best thing about Entertainment is no two paths are the same, and the people I admire most rarely had linear careers.

Inspired by his journey and you will be too after you watch our interview from AvA LIVE below:
