⭐ Why is Hollywood skipping Cannes?
Cannes basically admitted Hollywood got scared to premiere summer blockbusters there after a few high-profile “we showed this way too early” disasters at the box office.
After flops like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Furiosa premiered there, studios seem a lot less interested in risking the group chat turning on their $200M movie 3 months before release.
“I hope the studio films come back,” said Cannes boss Thierry Frémaux.
For those concerned: Cannes is still enforcing their no selfies policy, even with Meta on as a sponsor.

⭐ The BAFTA TV Awards took place yesterday night in London
‘The Studio’ won in the International category, making it the ‘most decorated freshman comedy ever produced’
‘Adolescence’ star Owen Cooper won Best Supporting Actor, leading him to become the youngest person ever to win an Emmy, Golden Globe, Actor Award, and Critic’s Choice at 16 years old
⭐ The Writers Guild of America (WGA) reached a deal with its Staff Union to end 3-month strike
The deal includes minimum 12% raises over the three-year term, as well as an increased salary floor from $43,000 a year to $57,000, along with other job protections.
“After nearly three months of strength, unity, and resolve, WGSU members were able to secure seniority provisions in layoffs and a no-strike clause that both parties agree protects concerted activity.”
⭐ Dua Lipa sued Samsung for $15 million because they used her likeness to help sell TVs without pay or her permission (as she should)
⭐ MagicCon 2026 drew 25,000 fans to Las Vegas, where Hasbro turned Magic: The Gathering into a full IRL showcase
You know what i’m going to say, every IP is going IRL (lots of acronyms there) from games to shows to podcasts
⭐ Dude Perfect finally found a sport weird enough to match its energy, joining the Savannah Bananas for a Banana Ball cameo
Creators keep bleeding into traditional sports, but the Bananas leaned all the way in.
⭐ The hunt for IP continues into stranger and stranger places from the Labubu movie to NOW the a Wordle game show produced by Jimmy Fallon

We know assistants don’t get bonuses... SO we had an idea
You know the horrible feeling of flights changing last minute, getting blamed for traffic in the Uber (Please fix rush hour in LA), being asked to find the bigger hotel suite (but it doesn’t exist)?
Well, we think you should earn some Cashback for all that trouble helping sort your boss’s travel plans.
So we partnered with ShopBack. Book your boss’s travel = earn $$$$$
And don’t just take our word for it:
“I book the travel anyway. It’s literally my job. All I changed was opening ShopBack first. That one habit has paid me over two thousand dollars.”
-Penelope, EA (who has earned $2,189.43 from just 15 trips), We have a feeling your boss travels even more 👀
