⭐ Hollywood has become so f’ing impatient
Hulu cancelled Mindy Kaling’s workplace comedy NSFW after just 1 season. Fans (including me) are pissed. The Office needed a six-episode first season to begin separating itself from the British original. Parks and Recreation was widely criticized in Season 1 before finding its voice in Season 2. Even Seinfeld tested so poorly that NBC initially ordered just four more episodes. It’ll get picked up by another streamer and become a cult classic.
⭐ Major streamers have reduced price increases by 10% since 2023/24 because consumers are ‘less likely to accept higher demands’
Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime are finally approaching the ceiling of what viewers will tolerate. With more bundles reportedly coming after NBCUniversal’s YouTube deal, streaming’s next phase may be less about “how much can we charge these fools” and more about repackaging everything we already subscribe to in a different bow. So in other words: cable won?

⭐ “Australia” just banned all AI generated songs from their music charts to ‘promote the human nature of artistry’.
Billboard is taking a different approach saying they are “committed to transparency around AI-Generated Music,” aka identifying them with no ban in sight. Good start at least I guess.
