⭐ Warner Bros. Discovery is suing Amazon over what it calls a “lawless employee shopping spree”
WBD accused the company of poaching HBO marketing veteran Pia Barlow despite her contract running through October 2027. Amazon reportedly offered more money and legal protection. Hollywood has officially entered its “non-competes, but make it Supermarket Sweep” era.
⭐ NBCUniversal is moving Peacock directly inside YouTube Premium beginning in early 2027
Subscribers will be able to watch Peacock’s full library, including the NFL, NBA, Universal films, Bravo and Love Island USA, without ever leaving YouTube. The big story: YouTube spent years eating television. Now television is moving into YouTube to save itself.
⭐ Snapchat is turning music discovery into a social layer
Its new Spotify integration lets friends see what you’re playing in real time, another sign that platforms are racing to own how we discover culture through each other. Also now your friends can see just how emotionally damaged you are in real time!
⭐ Netflix dives even deeper into live events and reality TV with a new Darts competition that allows fans to challenge the current champion for a six figure prize
BIG day for your borderline alcoholic college buddy who promises he could have gone pro in football, billiards & darts if he didn’t tweak his elbow senior year. The race to become YouTube has taken some unexpected turns hopefully they hit the engagement bullseye they are hoping for (sorry dad joke).
⭐ Toy Story 5 crossed $1 billion to become the year’s highest-grossing film, narrowly passing Michael and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which also finished above the billion-dollar mark.
⭐ Meanwhile, The Odyssey has already reached $639 million in just its second weekend, including $140 million from IMAX alone, putting it among the year’s five biggest releases. As for Nolan’s next move, don’t expect a rom-com: he says making one “scares” him. Cyclops? Fine. Feelings? No thanks.
⭐ Marvel announced their new slate of projects at their most attended Comic-Con panel ever including Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider & David Jonsson as the lead in Black Panther 3.
