⭐ 6 months ago we launched a series called Unsung Heroes, highlighting people behind the scenes in the Entertainment Industry. Since then we’ve worked with everyone from the Golden Globes to Disney to Robby Hoffman.
The next two weekends I’ll be on-site at Lollapalooza & Outside Lands sitting down with your favorite artists, and more importantly, the unsung hero on their team. If you’re going to either fest come say hi. I’ll be the only 33 year old at Lolla pretending to be on my phone but really checking the weather app.

AvA LIVE Lineup Booked In Partnership With:

⭐ The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is suing Jay Penske and Penske Media for more than $150 million, accusing them of rigging the Golden Globes sale and building a monopoly over Hollywood’s awards ecosystem
The lawsuit argues Penske now owns too many parts of the same machine: publications like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline covering awards season, Gold Derby predicting it, Luminate as the data machine measuring it, FYC advertising helping studios campaign through it, and awards shows including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and Golden Globes themselves through Dick Clark Productions.
Penske Media called the claims “absurd” and says the deal was legally approved. There is a joke here about Penske not responding to comments from his own publications.
⭐ Ari Emanuel dropped an op-ed in the WSJ supporting the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery Merger saying it could “Save Hollywood”
Important to note his company TKO sold Paramount a $7.7B UFC broadcast deal.
⭐ The Emmys might be getting back together
Your first thought may be to ask, when did they break up? To quickly catch you up, the Academy of TV Arts & Sciences split from the National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences 49 years ago in order to make a Primetime and a Daytime Emmys Award Show.
Fast forward to today, and the two organizations are talking about reuniting. This would put both entities back under one roof, and could even lead to one single award show + more comprehensive deals on the back end. More on that here.
⭐ BTS will skip the 2027 Grammys, saying music should be heard “for what it is” instead of split by region or language.
The group was widely expected to compete in major categories with its comeback album, Arirang, one of the year’s best-selling records, and its U.S. No. 1 single, “Swim.”
But the Recording Academy’s newly introduced Best Asian Pop Music Performance category requires songs to feature the meaningful use of at least one Asian language. Because “Swim” is primarily performed in English, it may not have qualified.
⭐ Bad Bunny has officially ended the highest grossing and best selling tour ever by a male Latin artist with a gross revenue of $467 million.
🏊 Dive deeper: This is the most lucrative tour ever to not have a show in the US.
⭐ YouTube is still the most watched platform on TVs per Nielsen’s latest report

⭐ HBO Max has officially entered the fold of short form vertical video. It’s only available for a select few iOS devices, but will expand to more consumers + to sports in the future.
“This feature is designed to help users discover something to watch by highlighting iconic and memorable scenes from the HBO Max library in a vertical, scrollable feed.”
⭐ Ohio State University just penned one of the biggest marketing deals in college sports history with JPMorganChase for $15 million+ annually, doubling most existing sponsorships
The deal will include Chase being featured on jerseys across 36 of OSU’s sports programs for a multi-year contract. If it wasn’t clear already, the floodgates are open and money is pouring into college sports. This is on the heels of Monster Energy’s $20m deal with the entire Big 12 Conference, relatively low given each school will “only” take home ~$1m.
⭐️ FIFA wants to sell investors up to 20% of a new World Cup subsidiary, valuing the business at $20 billion.
FIFA boss Gianni Infantino told its members to agree to the plan or miss out on $40m in funding. People are holding up red cards.
⭐ Legendary Late-Night Producer Peter Lassally, who worked with Carson & Letterman, passed away at 93.
Donations are flooding into Ready to Succeed, helping young people previously in the foster care system navigate college to career. Peter was a big champion of the nonprofit.
